Christine's Journey

Some organizations are founded from a business plan. Liminal Haven Group LLC was founded from a family's journey through love, loss, resilience, service, and hope.

Founder Christine Monteith White has dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Her journey took on new meaning when she opened her heart and home to two children adopted from foster care. Through that experience, she witnessed firsthand the lasting effects of trauma, instability, mental health challenges, and addiction, as well as the extraordinary strength required to overcome them.

Her daughter, Amanda, overcame significant obstacles through determination, recovery, and the support of those who believed in her. Today, she is a respected labor and delivery nurse, devoted mother of four, accomplished writer, compassionate advocate, and Christine's closest friend. Amanda's story is a testament to the power of hope, support, and second chances.

Christine's son, Randall "Randy," was not afforded the same ending. After a courageous battle with addiction, Randy passed away in May 2017. Though his loss left an immeasurable void, Christine transformed her grief into purpose. His memory became the inspiration for creating a place where others could find the support, stability, and hope needed to rebuild their lives.

Christine envisioned more than housing—she envisioned a community where individuals recovering from addiction, re-entering society, aging out of foster care, or facing other major life transitions could begin again with dignity, accountability, and compassion.

That vision became reality through the unwavering partnership of her husband, Stephen K. White. Together, they transformed a deeply personal dream into Liminal Haven Group LLC, combining Christine's lived experience with Stephen's steadfast support and shared commitment to serving others.

Stephen's passion for service is rooted in his family's legacy. His father proudly served in the United States Army, retiring as Sergeant First Class (SFC/E-7) after a distinguished career that included three tours in Korea. His example of honor, courage, resilience, servant leadership, and selfless service continues to inspire the White family and the mission of Liminal Haven.

The name Liminal Haven reflects the organization's purpose. A liminal space is the threshold between where someone has been and where they are going—a time of uncertainty, growth, and transformation. Whether someone is recovering from addiction, transitioning from treatment, aging out of foster care, rebuilding after incarceration, returning from military service, or simply seeking a fresh start, Liminal Haven exists to provide a safe place to heal and move forward.

Today, Liminal Haven Group LLC provides Level I sober living homes and transitional housing that promote recovery, accountability, personal growth, and lasting independence. We proudly serve individuals navigating recovery, re-entry, foster care transitions, veterans returning to civilian life, and others experiencing significant life changes. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, compassionate support, and the opportunity to build a meaningful future.

Through every resident served, Christine and Stephen honor Randy's memory, celebrate Amanda's remarkable resilience, and proudly honor Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Ronald White for his faithful military service and enduring example of leadership. These legacies continue to inspire our commitment to ensuring that no one has to face life's most difficult transitions alone.

Liminal Haven is more than a place to live—it is a place to heal, rebuild, belong, and discover that a second chance can become the beginning of a meaningful future.
